Lady in White |Film Review

MV5BMTMxNzU3Mzg3M15BMl5BanBnXkFtZTYwMTQzOTQ5._V1_ This movie, let me tell you… it’s super disappointing. I like weird scary movies from the 80’s, but this one doesn’t cut it. Ugh. It has a lot of potential, the premise sounds great. A kid gets trapped in a cloak room and meets a ghost and then tries to solve the mystery of who murdered her and a bunch of other kids. Sounds good to me!

Except it’s not that. It’s two hours of dragged out boring dialogue and bad acting. 40 minutes of this movie could have been cut out. The actors are horrible, the backdrops are horrible, the music is horrible. This all frustrates me so much.

Oh, and the brother to the main character is a piece of shit too, I just don’t understand why he would be written to be so whiny and annoying and unhelpful. Don’t hide evidence from the police just because you think it looks cool!! Ugh. He was my least favourite thing about the whole thing.

This is a garbage movie and I regretted watching it as soon as it started. Two hours of my life gone.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: The Original Screenplay by J.K Rowling |Review

29363501I just love the cover of this book. Holy poo! The illustrations inside are adorable and I love them too.

I think I like all this reading-screenplays-thing. I haven’t watched the film since it was in theatres, so this was refreshing and familiar all at the same time. I love all the extra notes and directions, it brings a little something more to the story that you may have missed in the film.

I Love Newt so much. He’s adorable. I am not a big fan of Tina however. If she liked Newt why did she keep trying to turn him in? I DON’T GET IT! I also love Jacob and Queenie together. Wonderful!

Can’t wait for the next instalment.

What We Do In the Shadows |Film Review

Two minutes in and I loved it. Ha!

We watched this because we like Jemaine Clement and love Rhys Darby. It was just too funny. If you like goofy mockumentories then this is perfect. I liked the jokes and costumes and the exaggerated characters. And Stu! Oh Stu, you poor bastard.

I just watched the trailer again and it cracked me up. Seriously, just watch it. I can’t form words to describe how much I enjoyed this film. Gah!

Havenhurst |Film Review

image So, I decided to take another jump into the world of unknown horror films on Netflix, and this time I was pleasantly surprised.

I was not expecting myself to get so involved with the characters and this storyline. I spent the whole film trying to figure out the twists and the reasoning behind what was happening and the history of the silly building. I got really involved.

I would totally recommend it to people who like suspense-y horror. It was visually pleasing and the acting was fairly good. (The main character is from Dexter). So that’s cool. I like the set designs and the cgi looks pretty good. Overall I liked it.

Go watch it.

Beyond the Gates |Film Review

imagesI’m throwing in a random movie review, because this movie frustrates me. This was released on Netflix recently and I love me some Netflix and Chill.

I’m going to say this film is filled with a bunch of nobodies, because ultimately it is. These actors suck. They are so incredibly bad at acting. The brothers are beyond awkward and when the girlfriend shows up to visit she interacts with her “long-term” boyfriend with weird small talk like this was that was first time they had ever met. And maybe it was, maybe it was the first scene they ever shot together. But that’s no excuse to be butt awful. Come on?!

The premise of this movie sounds great. I had a real interest. It was like a horror version of Jumanji! description – Two estranged brothers reunite at their missing father’s video store and find a VCR board game dubbed ‘Beyond The Gates’ that holds a connection to their father’s disappearance.

Sounds great right? WRONG! gah. I’m so mad at how sloppy this was done. There was so much potential! Also, if these boys grew up in a video store how did they not once watch Jumanji. That would have been a good reference, they could have used that movie as a guide line of what to expect in their own game.

The movie frustrates me on many levels. One, the acting just sucks. Two, the timing is awful. It takes 40 minutes for the good stuff to start and then the end is so rushed you have no idea what is happening. I legitimately have NO IDEA what happened in the climax of the film. I was beyond confused. Three, the mental compacity of these characters blows my mind. They are all so so so dumb. Four, (SPOILER) if they had to kill all these stupid people, why didn’t they kill the girl? Why did she live??? I don’t get it!!!

One thing I do like about the movie, was all the goofy gore. I’m all for practical effects and puppets and stuff. The first death scene was great. Loved it. Oh, I also liked the movie poster. Very 80’s.

Over all, this movie sucked. You can got watch it if you want. It’s worth a watch if you like low budget horror.
